Fractal Forge Main Screen. This screen appears as soon as the program is launched.
All controls and options are on the right side of the screen (shown below).
The left and middle of the screen
is dominated by the fractal image display area. |
 |
The image to the left is a zoomed in view on the right side of the screen
Across the top are the magnifying glass zoom icons. After selecting an icon,
click on the main display screen, then drag right and down to create a zoom window. The "+" icon
will zoom in. The "-" icon zooms out. The last icon defines a window to copy.
The text fields "Real and imaginary part of center", "Y axis magnification" define the center of the image
in the complex plane. Since fractals are an iterative process, you can specify the number
of iterations and the bailout level. You can also pick a complex iteration formula from the drop down menu.
If you wish to see the associated Julia set instead of Mandebrot set, click the Julia Mode checkbox.
The tabs across the top left "Data", "Color", "Size", and "History" let you select color schemes, or
the size of the display window.
The "Tools" menu accesses the animator dialog box where you can create AVI movies of flying through
the fractal images.
|
Additional features:
Also on the tools menu is a "Poster" feature to create very large printouts of a fractal
image by tiling multiple small printouts.
You can save the display image to a file.
There are various options to change the appearance of the fractal, as well as cycle color schemes.
| Missing functions and bugs:
No bugs known.
The program does not generate fractal mountains, clouds, or particle systems.
